  • Materials & safety: BPA-free plastics; chopper blades stainless steel 301; all food-contact parts tested for suitability by TÜV Rheinland.
  • Batch sizes: Mila: 300/500/800/1000 ml. Mila mini: 300/600 ml.
  • Programs:
    • Dry Soy / Soaked Soy (dried or soaked soybeans)

    • Juice (the only cold program; fruit nectars from berries/stone fruit; not for apples/oranges/ginger)
  • Cleaning: Auto clean runs after each program; manual clean button = short clean (press once) or intensive clean (press twice; add a drop of detergent). Open the lid to air-dry afterwards.
  • Display: Not visible when the unit is off; displays differ slightly across models but share the same menu.
  • Timer: You can pre-schedule (e.g., in the evening for the next morning).
  • First use: Calibrate by briefly holding the clean button (~5 min).

Using Mila well

Filling the mix chamber

There is no strict max fill line, but foaming grains (oats, rice, spelt) can foam and overflow if overfilled. With nuts or soybeans you may fill up to about ½–⅔ of the chamber. Remember: Mila adds water during the cycle.

“It doesn’t start mixing”

After water is pumped into the mix chamber, the unit heats first. Mixing begins only once the target temperature is reached.

Hot vs. cold results

The drink is dispensed hot (except Juice, which is cold). Use hot or let cool before bottling.

Interrupting a program

Within the first minute, press Start/Stop again to cancel.

What Mila cannot do

No coffee beans or instant coffee. Coffee oils attack materials and leave persistent flavors.

Mixing different ingredients

Choose the program for the dominant/hardest ingredient (e.g., soaked soy + oat flour + cashew → use Nuts).

Taste & texture tips

“My plant drink doesn’t taste like store-bought.”

That’s normal: commercial drinks often contain stabilizers and sweeteners. Adjust to taste with soaked dates, a pinch of salt, vanilla extract, or spices like cardamom, cinnamon, tonka.

Oat milk turns slimy

Starch gelatinizes when heated. Use fewer oats or try this enzyme hack (300 ml, Grains mode):

  • 21 g oats, 1 tsp neutral oil, pinch of salt, 2 drops amylase.
  • Run the program, then cool to ~60 °C (use a thermometer).
  • Dilute amylase 1:10 in water, stir in, let cool, strain if desired.
Note: Amylase can be allergenic—use verified, food-grade products.

Preventing foam/overflow with oats

Use fewer oats or tender/quick oats. You can also make oat milk with the Juice program (cold, fixed 250 ml); reduce ingredients accordingly—no overflow.

Adjusting consistency

Water-to-ingredient ratio drives thickness. Next time, reduce or increase solids. Soaking hard ingredients (nuts, soy, dates) overnight improves smoothness. Strain with the included sieve for extra-fine results.

Coconut milk with extra flavor

Use 20 g coconut flakes on Juice (cold, fixed 250 ml). Strain for a silky result.

Cleaning & care

Daily care

Let the auto clean or manual clean finish. Rinse the stopper with clear water and leave the lid open to dry the chamber. Run intensive clean + a drop of detergent periodically.

“Rust” on the blade

Almost always residue, not rust. Soak the blade in a baking soda + water solution; scrub gently with an old toothbrush.

Blade removal (for replacement/cleaning)

  1. Place a protective cloth under the blade area to avoid scratches.
  2. Insert a flat-head screwdriver slightly under the blade hub to create lever action.
  3. A small pop releases the hub; then unscrew by hand.

Water quality & descaling

Use filtered tap water and descale every ~50 cycles. Hard water affects taste and may damage the heater.

Troubleshooting & error codes

Quick icons (display)

  • E01 – Glass carafe missing.
  • E02 – Water tank empty.
  • E03 – Lid open / not properly closed.
  • E04 – Waste/collection container full (must be emptied).

Detailed codes (what to do first)

  • E02 – Water tank empty / sensor issue
    1. Fill the water tank. 2) Clean all sensors: wipe the external sensors and the pins in the mix chamber with a damp cloth (Mila 0.6 L has one pin; larger model has two). 3) Optionally pass a household magnet over the sensors once. If still unresolved → replace unit.
  • E04 – Collection container full
Empty the container. Verify the small magnet in the container is present (see reference photo). If the magnet is missing, the machine will continue to trigger E04 → request a replacement magnet/container.
  • E10 – Outlet hose blocked
Clean the outlet hose thoroughly until water/drink flows freely.
  • E12 – Temperature sensor defective → Contact support (replacement required).
  • E13 – Flow-through sensor defective → Clean pins again; if still present, exchange the unit.
  • E15 – Heater of the mix chamber defective → Exchange the unit.

Common questions

“Mila dispensed only half my drink; the program is still running.”

That’s expected for 600/800/1000 ml selections. Mila prepares in two dispensing cycles—wait for completion.

“Can I skip cleaning if I’m making back-to-back batches?”

Only skip if you’re immediately preparing another batch. To skip, briefly unplug to clear the reminder, then continue. After the final batch, let the full clean run.

“Can I make vegan cream?”

Yes—see our magazine guide to vegan creams for methods and ratios.

Storage & shelf life

Let drinks cool completely, then store airtight in the fridge for ~2–4 days. When unsure, look, smell, taste.

Supported plant milks (examples)

Almond (natural/blanched/roasted), hazelnut, cashew, oat, spelt, rice (with cooked rice), buckwheat (soaked), lupin, hemp, soy, coconut, macadamia; plus recipes such as pistachio milk, apple-pie latte, white cashew latte, tonka milk, hot chocolate, banana milk, date-soy milk.

Mila mini — key differences

  • Batch sizes 300/600 ml.
  • Max speed ~15,300 RPM (vs. up to ~20,000 RPM on Mila).
  • Same program logic, cleaning modes, and care.
